Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Acid Reflux

Hello, I have been experiencing what I would call acid reflux for over a week straight. I am very frustrated and feel awful. My symptoms have been on and off for several years now, but each time it cycles back around it seems to be worse. I have had my heart checked out and got good reports. I have had numerous blood work done and it all checks out good. My symptoms are bloodshot, red eyes, headache, chest heaviness, with a dull constant pain above my stomach and in the center of my back. I have occasional acid that comes up in my throat. This all gets worse after eating and I have been unable to sleep without sleep aid for the past week. Any suggestions?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are typical of severe acid reflex.
As a first line management you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.
Avoid spicy foods.
If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and plan for an endoscopy.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
