Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Food Allergy

I am actually seeing my primary care doctor tomorrow for a follow up appointment. I have been checking blood sugar off and on for several months without any significant findings that seem associated with my symptoms. For at least 20 years, I from time to time, have a feeling of weakness and an overall trembly feeling after eating. I have always thought it was some kind of food allergy, however, I have not ever been able to pin point what it is. Second, I have suspected a blood sugar spike, but that does not seem to be the case either. I am thinking it could be an asthma problem that has been missed for years. I am a female, 66 years old and this problem is becoming more frequent and more debilitating. I have never smoked or been with people who do. Any suggestions? I am thinking of asking for a referral to either an endocrinologist or an allergist.

Hi
Thanks for posting your query on HCM
Feeling weak and funny after a meal is a normal thing and may not need any special management. That is not how allergy presents either. Many things can explain such a feeling after meal.
After a meal, hormones are secreted for digestion.Serotonine happens to be a hormone whose increase in brain is related to feeding. This hormone causes drowsiness after meal. Also, melatonin, a hormone that causes sleepiness even though not released due to eating, food does influence its production. Also, protein and fats rich foods are known to pass through very complex digestive processes before giving energy.Taking much protein and fats rich foods or foods with insane amount of calories can make you feel uncomfortable after meal.
With all these, you may not be suffering from any food allergy. It could just be a normal post meal phenomenon.
I will advise you try the following: eat well and balanced with right proportions of all essential nutrients, eat in small quantities and frequently, drink enough water and avoid too much sugar.Regular exercises too will be good. You may go ahead and see you Endocrinologist or allergist if these do not work for you.
Hope my answer will help you
Best regards
