Hi,

Your son needs to get investigated to find basic problem in his bowel movements. Its clear he has constipating tendency...Apart from managing his fibers intake and providing him juices. He needs to add more clean water intake. Apart from these any bowel infection / infestation needs to be recognised and treated (they may cause hard stools.)

I feel instead of giving Miralax powder which is a purgative, he can be given stool softener (Cremaffine for children at bed time). Apply lubrication to anus for easy passage of motion. Show him to a gastroenterologist for more specific and personal advise. Above type of treatment would heal the inflammation in rectal lining and the prolapse may be healed. Few non-responding children need surgical management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
