Suggest Treatment For Temporal Arteritis

My mother was diagnosed with temporal arteritis in August 2014 following returning to England after visiting me in Australia...she became quite ill and the diagnosis of temporal arteritis was made...she is on steroids as a treatment...my question is can she travel on long haul flights with this condition?

Dear thanks for the question.

I share your concerns as it is a serious problem. However the current treatment (steroids) is in correct line . Your mother can travel too but she shouldn't miss the medicines during long travel hours. Regular visits to doctor should continue during her stay with you which we tend to miss during travel abroad. Temporal arteritis takes two to three years for complete recovery.
