Hi,
thank you for providing the brief history of you,
A thorough neuromuscular assessment is advised,
As the pain is in the center of the hip region and it tender, it could be
Sacroiliitis as it is common in most of the cases. By undergoing simple
physical therapy like - therapeutic
ultrasound therapy and
TENS therapy the pain will subside and post which strengthening exercises will be taught.
Also, the ortho may request for an X-ray or
MRI to see what are the other symptoms or causes for the pain. As you said it is the tail bone, then may be an X-ray can show any small pathological
fracture - depending upon the age, or may be it is just a
Soft tissue injury, which can be seen on a MRI.
For either of the case, the physical therapy will be advised. As , pain can be controlled by simple pain killers, but for long term care, exercises will be guided to strengthen the muscle groups to provide the better support. Most cases respond well to physical therapy in 3-4 weeks in my personal experience.
The earlier the care the better the results. Post physical therapy, you can perform the same exercises at home, to ensure the strength in muscles to help you avoid the pain in the region.
