Hello,

Lower abdominal pain is most likely to come from one of the organs in your lower abdominopelvic cavity. These include your small intestine, colon, ovaries, uterus, ureters, bladder, peritoneum and kidneys.

Inflammation in your small intestine (enteritis) or in your large intestine (colitis) may be caused by indigestion or gas, infections, gastric ulcers, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Celiac disease, small bowel obstruction or large bowel obstruction, small intestine cancer or colon cancer.

Other causes of lower abdomen pain are pelvic inflammatory disease, large ovarian cyst, severe bladder infection, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, urinary tract infection or diverticulitis.

You don't need to be apprehended by the long list of causes. As your pain is excruciating, I would suggest you to go to a general surgeon or physician for evaluation. You may need ultrasound imaging of abdomen to find out the actual cause of pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
