Suggest Treatment For The Pain In Abdomen

Hi, I had a bad stomach ache for a few days when I am hungry and after eating. My pain is on the left part and it remains pain for a half day. I had this kind of history many years ago , but just now it starts again when I am very hungry. Can you me give advice on this matter and what medicine I should take?

HI.
Thanks for your query and an elucidate history.

You have a classical history which says that the pain on the left side of abdomen increases on empty stomach or after eating.

This relation with the food habits indicates the following reasons::
Gastritis /gastric ulcer/ Duodenal Ulcer / possible gastric cancer/ Pancreatitis in rare cases.

I would suggest you the following::
Zantac 12 hourly.
Pepcid every 3 to 4 hours when on empty stomach.
Add Domperidone or such motility regulators.
Soft bland diet.
No aerated colas / soda/ drinks.
Early dinner. No late nights.
Treatment for anxiety (as prescribed / needs a prescription by your Doctor)
Lying in a reclining position
Walk around after dinner.
Think of the factors which increased the present problem, GERD, anxiety and try to avoid.
If no relief, get Upper GI endoscopy done and get prescription for added Medicines.
Also needed is ultrasonography of the abdomen or a CT scan for ruling out other pathology of the pancreas and other structures of the upper abdomen.
