Hi. A co-worker is pretty sure she has strep throat because she is in agony and has those little white spots in back of the throat. She has a doctor s appointment tomorrow morning. Until then, I have heard that eating hot foods that make you sweat is good to get rid on infection (ie. garlic cloves, cayenne pepper, hot chicken soup, etc) but then should she be having cold stuff (ie. popsicles, gatoraid, etc) to reduce the fever? I dont wanna steer her wrong...
Hi, You are partially right, most of the organisms which causes upper respiratory tract infection need cooler temperature to survive. So by consuming hot food you can slowdown infection tomsome extent, its better if she avoids cold food items, meantime she can also do salt water gargle ( water should be lukewarm), take care.
