Suggest Treatment For The Tingly Sensation In The Face

I was eating dinner and the muscle on my left side of my face above my jaw started feeling almost 'tingly'- like you just ate or smelled something very sour. Next thing I knew it was swollen and quite painful. That whole area from my ear 2 below my jaw is noticeably swollen and very tender upon touch. Any ideas? Muscle spasm?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of tingly sensation in the face mainly on left side seems to be due to spasm of facial muscles and leading to their decreased functioning. It could be soft tissue injury and injury to facial nerve. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to give cold compresses to face 2-3 times a day and Take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain and swelling. Do massage of facial muscles and do blow in and blow out exercises. Pinch nose and close mouth and do blow outs. If condition doesn't get better then consult oral/maxillofacial surgeon for proper examination. Doctor may take history, order X-ray and CT scan to rule out other causes and can start treatment accordingly.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
