I had a baby by c section 4 months ago and I had 4 fibroids. My doctor wanted to do an ultrasound 2 months after my baby was born to see if the fibroids have shrank. She found that my uterine lining was 21mm. She said it was to thick but wasn't to concerned about it, since she cleaned out my lining during my c section. She said come back in October, I went back yesterday and she said it is still thick. She doesn't seem to think it is pre cancerous but wants to do a biopsy to be sure. I guess my question is how can I have a thick lining if I have my normal periods, doesn't that mean I am shedding my lining? I know im ovulating again because they saw an egg on the ultrasound. I am 40years old ad 56 pounds overweight and wondering if those are the reasons or what could be causing it
Hello, I have gone through your query and understood the concern. Though your endometrium was removed during the surgery and thereafter, it has been four months since and during this period, if you did not have a natural period, the endometrium can build up again due to unopposed estrogen activity. This is the most likely reason for the thick endometrium and this is not precancerous. Yet, an endometrial biopsy is always done in such a situation. Progesterone supplements help to manage the situation by inducing a period. Management can be helped through a healthy weight, healthy diet and regular exercise. Hope this helps.
