Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on HCM. Your nephew is suffering from pleural effusion. There are many causes for pleural effusion. In this type of case analysis of pleural fluid mostly give accurate diagnosis. Analysis of pleural fluid includes
1. Routine and microscopic examination
2. Protien and sugar estimation
3. ADA (Adenosine DeAminase) estimation
4. Culture and sensitivity.
The amount and color of pleural fluid you are describing suggest TB pleural effusion more. So consult pulmonologist and discuss these tests and start treatment.
