Suggest Treatment For Throat Irritation And Indigestion

I have had an irritation in the lower part of my throat for about a month now. It doesn t hurt, it s just uncomfortable. It goes away over night and comes back in the afternoon. I do smoke and drink, and I have had some indigestion. I worried it could be something serious.

Hi.
Thanks for your elucidate history of irritation in the lower part of the throat, which comes back in the afternoon. You do smoke, drink and have indigestion, a good cocktail for the condition called GERD.

I would advise you the following:
-Stop smoking and drinking.
-Avoid spicy and hot foods
-soft bland diet.
- No anxiety and stress.
- PPI like omeprazole,
- Domperidone at 8 hourly
-antacid 3 tsf 3 hourly.

I hope this should help you. If this does not help you within 5 days consult an ENT or Gastro for upper GI Endoscopy and further management .
