Suggest Treatment For Throbbing Pain In The Arm And Swelling In The Finger

I have swelling to my middle finger joint on my right hand. Painful, decrease in strength of hand. Occasional throbbing pain up arm. No recent injury. Difficult to write at times. Area slightly warmer but no redness. Could it be RA? What could I do for?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Pain in the joints of the fingers associated with swelling is commonly in RA. Get all investigations for RA done & get physically examined. In the meantime take NSAIDS (Naproxen/Combiflam) for relief from pain & inflammation. You can also apply pain relieving ointments & sprays.

Do finger exercises, consult a physiotherapist. Avoid eating food that trigger inflammation, like refined carbohydrate, alcohol, sugar, trans -fat, etc. Maintain healthy lifestyle, stay away from stress.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K,
