Suggest Treatment For Tingling Sensation In Legs

In December I had emergency oral surgery after a life-threatening infection from a tooth that went bad. The oral surgeon gave me an IV with amoxicillin and a steroid. Not sure what kind. Then I was on Amoxicillin or Penicillin pills for ten days. A couple of weeks later, I began to notice a strange tingling sensation in my legs that has moved to all parts of my body and arms and keeps me awake. What do you advise?

Hi,

The tingling sensation you are experiencing in your legs and other parts of your body may be due to a variety of causes, including nerve damage, vitamin deficiencies, or medication side effects. It's important to consult with a healthcare provider to determine the underlying cause and receive proper treatment.

Your history of recent oral surgery and antibiotic use may suggest a possible link to your symptoms. Some antibiotics, such as fluoroquinolones, have been known to cause nerve damage and peripheral neuropathy, which can result in tingling sensations. However, amoxicillin and penicillin are not typically associated with this side effect.

Some other possible causes of tingling sensations in the legs and other parts of the body include:
- Vitamin B12 deficiency
- Diabetes
- Thyroid disorders
- Multiple sclerosis
- Pinched nerve
- Alcohol use disorder
- Anxiety or stress

Your healthcare provider may order blood tests to check for vitamin deficiencies and other conditions. They may also perform neurological tests to check for nerve damage. In some cases, changes to medication or diet may be recommended. In other cases, medication or physical therapy may be necessary.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
