Suggest Treatment For Tinnitus And Ringing In Ear

I ve been reading about Tinnitius and I have a ringing in my left ear that started yesterday afternoon. I ve never experienced this before. The sound is more like wind blowing and not so much ringing. Should I make an appointment with my healthcare provider?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

There is a connecting tract (known as Eustachian tube) between the nasopharynx & middle ear through which infection can spread to ear.
Also obstruction to this Eustachian tube, secondary to an upper respiratory tract infection, sinusitis, cold & congestion, can lead to ear pain/ sounds like blowing of winds by causing un-equalisation of pressure between the nasopharynx & middle ear.

Clinical examination is important for diagnosis, so I will advise you to consult your Doctor/ ENT specialist for a proper clinical examination.
Certain investigations like PTA (Pure Tone Audiogram) and an Impedance Audiometry (Tympanometry) should be done after examination of your ear drum to detect any pathological cause for your symptoms.

Wish you good health & a speedy recovery.
Take care.
