Suggest Treatment For Tonsillitis

Hi I am a 29 y/o male who suffers from tonsilitis at least 2 times a year for the last 6 yrs. My doctor only gives me Isocillin and suggets I take Ibprofen for the pain. Would it be better to just have the surgery or continue this course of action for as long as it continues, which he has stated could be many many years. I ve read about this thermal welding tonsillectomy and it seems to be a better choice over the more traditional way of cold dissection. What do you suggest?

Hi,

Great question whether cold tonsillectomy or thermal assisted one. The answer is simple. The oldest way of dissection and ligation is still the best way as the healing is faster, post-operative pain is less so go for routine surgery.
Secondly, you are suffering from tonsillitis 2 times per year for 6 years and this can surely be the indication of tonsillectomy but a three week course of proper antibiotic, Ibuprofen, Multivitamins, should help avoid surgery.
Also watch for the foods and beverages that cause such a problem and avoid these at any cost.
Gargles with antiseptic preparation in pharmacy at bed time helps further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
