Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I haven t been to the dentist in 6 years out of fear but now I have a really bad toothache? Every time I go I freak out or break down and I don t know what to do. I want to go and get it fixed but I know I will get there and just run away for I m so scared. Do u have any advice on how to conquer my fear? Also my boyfriend who is so supportive has offered to come with me and hold my hand during all the appointments. Is this definitely possible because I don t think I could do it if he wasn t there! Thanks.
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The tooth ache can be secondary tooth infection because of a decayed tooth. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. There is no need to get scared so much for a simple dental procedure, do not worry, it is a painless procedure, be bold and get the treatment done. You need to get a radiograph done to confirm the diagnosis. Later it can be treated with root canal treatment. Till you consult a oral physician you can take a course of antibiotics like amoxicillin and pain killers like diclofenac(if you are not allergic). I hope my answer will help you, take care.
