Suggest Treatment For Trigeminal Neuralgia Causing Pain In Left Ear

hi. my wife has complaints of pain from last 4 to 5 months in the area of above left ear and sorrounding, pain lasts for 2 to 3 seconds. We has been to to neurosurgeon and he has diagnosed it as Trigeminal Neuralgia (MRI is yet to be done) but we should take any other docs advice or its Ok to continue with the doc ?
