Suggest Treatment For Twisted Ankle

I rolled my left ankle outwards a week ago playing tennis. The next day I could barely walk on it. The following day I could walk on it with some pain. Bruising came and went. I aggravated it again 2 days later. I can now walk on my foot pretty normally with a slight pain in the bottom and soreness on the top. Do you think I ve broken any bones? Thank you for taking my question Tom

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Thank you for your query.

Ankle injury is a common sports injury. Based on your symptoms, you have a sprained ankle.

Fracture is unlikely. Severe pain that increases or worsens when you put weight on and persistent swelling are features of fractures.
you seem to be getting better.
However, ankle injuries are difficult to heal unless you take adequate measures. It is more likely you will sprain it again unless you are careful.

I recommend rest ( not straining , at the least, by playing or exercising), support and topical anti inflammatory gels to ease up the inflammation and enhance healing.

If your pain or soreness increases , that should caution you to take it easy.
hope this helps and you recover completely soon.
please feel free to get back to us if you need further clarification.
wish you good health
