General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the typhoid fever with water in lungs (most likely pleural effusion or pneumonia) is a bit worrisome condition and needs precise care to control it. The following measures will help you in this regard:
- Depending upon the clinical severity as mild to moderate or severe features of presentation and hemodynamic stability level, one has to choose the option of intravenous antibiotics or oral antibiotics
- Supportive care with chest physiotherapy
- Semi reclining position with back support
- Consumption of more liquids including boiled water, coconut water, lemon juice, home made butter milk
- Food of bland vegan category
- Avoidance of spices, non veg, junk items, dairy fat
- If breathless, bronchi dilator drugs
- Anti pyretic support every 6 hourly
- Supportive multi vitamin, B complex, minerals
- Should refrain from smoking if consuming

The issue is not to be correlated with COPD condition of the father and it is absolutely curable with precise medical care.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
