Suggest Treatment For Ulcerative Colitis While On Prednisone

I have ulcerative colitis (mild to moderate) and I am 66 years old. I took full script of prednisone. My symptoms were completely gone with only 1 week of 30 mg predisone. When I got down to the 5 mg dose, my gastroenterologist put me on sulfasalazine 500 mg 2 x s per day. After the 3rd week, I had a serious reaction with 100-103 temperature, severe headache and neck ache, freezing and felt awful. Dr took me off sulfasalazine immediately. I finished prednisone and 18 weeks later, symptoms slowly started coming back. Dr. prescribed balsalazide which I ve been on for 10 days. I renewed my prednisone. Wi ll these two drugs be ok to take together?

antiinflammatory like aminosalicylate and sulfasalazine are first indicated it can give some relief. alternatively surgery with removal of extensive part of colon may be helpful .
