Suggest Treatment For Upper Left Abdominal Pain

My 12 year old son has been complaining of pain under is left side ribs/upper abdomen. He has had these pains off and on all his life but he says this is the worst and longest it has ever lasted. He is very active (low BMI) and eats well. He has been using the bathroom regularly and doe not feel that it is gas. We have been having him drink extra water but that has not had an effect.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The initial evaluation of the child with abdominal pain includes history , physical examination, serological testing for Celiac disease, and stool testing for occult blood to determine whether the child has any alarm finding. Even his stool is every day you should still consider constipation that can cause pain but the left side upper abdomen most likely from stomachache. Drink a lot of water is good to do.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
