3 weeks ago, I had an upper respiratory infection that led to a double middle-ear infection. Ever since then, I've had a sore throat... But it's more like, the very back of the roof of my mouth, and less "throat." The pain switches sides often and is worse when I put pressure on spot that hurts. It is definitely not an ulcer. Is this a bacterial infection or viral? I was checked for strep & it was negative. Thanks. :)

Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. If the secretions are serous then it is most likely viral infection. In such case nasal decongesants and anti histamines will help you.If it is purulent or any other signs of bacterial infection then you should get a broad spectrum antibiotic.Mostly i use Co-amoxiclav or azithromycin for 5 days to 1 week duration.Gargling warm saline is also helpful.Take lemon tea.Chicken soup.Vitamin C which all helps you in gaining immunity.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
