Suggest Treatment For Urethral Abscess And Grade 1 Cystocele

Hello my doctor diagnosed me with a urethral abscess and grade 1 cystocele. The urologist I saw has no experience with draining this, says I need to go to OR and wants another urologist to see this. In the meantime, urology straight cathed me and I had 150 ml residual urine. Sent me home. Is there a possibility of obstruction and/or sepsis with this and how long should I wait before urology calls me back ? I have a HMO, fortunately I m a nurse but I have to really bother the insurance co to get in (it took me almost 5 days of me calling and bothering them)

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If you are still urinating despite the cystocele you can wait to see urologist. If you can't urinate at all it is an emergency situation and you should go to ER. You may need urologist assistance and may undergo surgery.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka , General & Family Physician
