Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter,(25 yrs old) was diagnosed with urinary tract infection. She went to have prescription filled and was given nitrofurantoin mono mcr 100 mg. 4 days later the pharmacy called and said she has the wrong prescription and then gave her cephalexin 500 mg. My question is this. Could this have medically messed her up in any way?
Hello and welcome to Healthcamagic. Both these antibiotics are used for urinary tract infections and nothing will happen to her if she switched from one to another. Nitrifurantoin is used for milder infection while cephakexin us used for some moderate or complicated. in every case, she probably got another antibiotics because if uroculture finding and it will be fine now. I hope I have answered your query. I wish you a nice day.
