Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My girlfriend has a urinary tract infection. Her doctor prescribed Ciprofloxacin, Cefixime trihydrate, Azithromycin abd Levofloxacin. He also told her that if these antiobiotics does not clear up the infection, it means she has AIDS. I think this is ridiculous. No blood test was administered. Is this possible? We have been dating for two years and have had no other partners. My girlfriend is 29.

Suggest Treatment For Urinary Tract Infection
Hi, She has been diagnosed with urinary tract infection. Kindly mention her symptoms so that I can guide you further. There is no need for giving so much antibiotic. Cefixime is a broad spectrum and can be used for 7 days. Don t give her four antibiotics. Urine culture is also advisable to check infective organism and accordingly sensitive antibiotic should be given. UTI doesn t indicate Aids problem. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Parth Goswami, General & Family Physician
