Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Bleeding And Abdominal Cramps In An Elderly Person
Hello, I m 66, post menopausal & been suffering tummy cramps for 2months. The dr has been treating me for ibs because of this. However,I started bleeding 10days ago & as its getting increasingly heavier my GP prescribed utovlan 2days ago while I await my hysteroscopy appointment next Thursday. I ve taken 6 tablets now & still bleeding heavily. - How long do they take to work please? I m very frightened. Thankyou x
Noted the short history about a 66 year old female having abdominal cramps for 2 months which is being treated as IBS and have bleeding for the last 10 days, Given Utovlan and waiting for hysteroscopy.
Bleeding at the age of 66 is most indicative of cancer of cervix or uterus hence should be investigated urgently. Hysteroscopy will be done soon with biopsy. CT scan of pelvis and abdomen will help to get the cause of abdominal cramps and per-vaginal bleeding, will show the staging of cancer if present.
Once diagnosed properly the treatment will be as per the cause found. Also needed is colonoscopy.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
