Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Infections While Taking Forxiga
Hey Doctor, My GP prescribed Forxiga to lower my bsl even though I m Type I. She warned me of the side effects but I thought I d give it a go. I used Forxiga for only a matter of approximately 10 days and it lowered my BSL s markedly, though the side effects (vaginal infections) are way too painfull and aren t worth continuing the Forxiga even though it works for me. Can you please advise me on what to use to either counteract the side effects or at the very least sooth them. I stopped the Forxiga so as not to exacerbate my side effects. I don t feel it s thrush that I m getting as I have no discharge at all but the outer parts of my vagina / labia feel like they re on fire. I ve tried Canestan 6 day cream and it makes no difference....please, please, please let me know of something to sooth the irritation as it is extremely painful / uncomfortable. Thank you
Forxiga is an oral hypoglycemic drug used generally in the treatment of Type II Diabetes. Genital infections are a common side effect of the drug. Vaginal yeast infections can occur commonly on using this drug. I would suggest you to switch to oral anti-fungal drugs instead of topical application.Maintaining proper vaginal hygiene is also essential.
Vaginal moisturiser and ice pack covered with cloth can be used to reduce any discomfort. I would suggest you to switch to other drugs in case of persisting symptoms even after following the above measures.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
