I have been having pain on left side of vagina with urination off and on for about 2 years now. When it first started i went to urgent care thinking it was a UTI. After the test i was treated with antibiotics. It came back so I went to my doctor she said I did not have a UTI. She did an exam and could not find any reason for the pain. She sent me for an ultrasound of my ovaries. I had a hysterectomy when I was in my 20 s. There was not evidence of any problems but when they did the ultrasound no signs of any cysts. I had a colonoscopy after that and noticed when I stopped taking ibuprofen the pain went away. So I switched to Aleve after using this for a while the pain came back. I now use Tylenol but the pain comes with that too. I went back to my doctor she examined me last week and said my urethra is grainy and meaty. She referred me to a urologist. I saw a NP of urology Monday. He did no exam and mainly said to drink more water and avoid spices. I left still in pain called my doctor. She referred me to another urologist and insists I should have a cytology test and exam. The NP called back and said the doctor he works with says perhaps I have a prolapsed bladder and they could send a prescription for a cream to be applied to the urethra opening vaginally. I told my doctor this and she said to wait till I have an exam. Meanwhile I am still in pain so the only relief I get is if I use Preparation H. I used the cream a little more than I usually do and the pain has lessened somewhat. No I have developed a BIG bump like pimple thing on my labis back by my anus. I soaked in the tub with epsom salts but don t know what to do or what it is. I read I should pop it on a site but am afraid to mess with it. I did squeeze it but that is pretty painful. My doctor is not in until tomorrow. I think it is because of the Prep H but am not sure. I am getting scared and worried. I am not sure what to do. My appointment with the urologist is not for two more weeks. I have discontinued using Prep H. What do you suggest? I am 61, female, 185 lbs, 5ft 6in. and take no prescription medications regularly I have allergy to lanolin lotions and have asthma and use a rescue inhaler when needed. I have osteoarthritis in my knee and had knee surgery two years ago. I use the ibuprofen, alive, or tylenol for the arthritis. I am a kindergarten teacher.
