Suggest Treatment For Vertigo

I have suffered vertigo for 16 years. Came along with a load of other symptoms when I developed severe M.E. back in 1996. Have been in recovery for the last 8 years and married and working again but vertigo still an issue. Not typical spinning, (drunk feeling) though it was to begin with. This is a feeling of movement, flying in any direction only when the eyes are closed (eye lids used to flutter constantly when ill and still do a little). Drugs like amitriptyline helped initially but when anti depressant action kicked in the feelings of movement speeded up so badly I had to stop the drug.

Hello,

The vertigo can be due to:
- BPPV- It is due to disease of balance centre of ear. It occurs after change in head position
- Cervical spondylosis- in cervical spondylosis, vertigo comes normally comes with head movements; in fact, vertigo can be relieved by eliminating neck torsion against head
- Cerebellar vertigo - It is due to damage to cerebellum, main balancing centre of brain; it occurs along with drunken gait, slurred speech, in-coordination.

Kindly get your self examined from neurologist and get MRI brain done. For relief at home:
- Take tab Betahistine, Cinnarazine after prescription
- Avoid forward neck bending
- Avoid pillow use
- Take plenty of fluids, at least 3 ltr daily
- Neck exercises

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
