I have very low blood sugar. It ha gotten so bad that I have started to have convulsions. I do not have health insurance. I can no longer manage my blood sugar naturally through diet and exercise. Are thier any over the counter medications that you can recommend?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As per my clinical experience, the very low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) level may be from various possible issues as:
- Over dose of anti diabetic medications as metformin or others
- Liver disorders with low glucose production
- Pancreas problems with inslin secreting tumors or else
- Systemic disturbances with over consumption of glucose
- Auto immune disorders of some sort
- Others

However, its need of all your history, physical examination, battery of tests of biochemistry panel, which will help to figure out the root cause possibilities and management guidelines. Though primary care with:
- Immediate use of handful of sugar
- Regular interval small, frequent feeds
- More use of whole grains, carbohydrates

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
