Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i contacted vitiligo in april 2013.since then i consumed steriods for a period of 3 months. applied tracoz ointment 1% regularly and took vitoxy forte capsules trill now. though the vitiligo is cured to some little extent.my sugar/b.p is well controlled. what should i do now?
The goal of treatment is to stop or slow the progression of pigment loss and, if you desire, attempt to return some color to your skin.
The latest advances are included at this link which includes Psoralen, PUVA, and Narrowband Ultra Violet. http://mayoclinic.com/health/vitiligo/DS00586/DSECTION=treatments-and-drugs.
If the patches are small the distressing color can be camouflaged with melanocyte transfer and regrowing the skin over it.
A lot of research is pending in the treatment but yet there is no complete cure for vitiligo at treating the cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
