Hi Dr., my wife is 10 weeks pregnancy, She couldn t resist continuos vomiting. Her doctors ordered plasil 10mg 2/day, but the pharmacist not god but use navidixine but the other pharmacist Both of the not goods for the pregnant. So what do you advise me?

Nausea and vomiting is a common problem in early pregnancy and we have a lot of experience with what is considered safe and what is not. Metoclopramide is the active medication in Plasil and is safely used during pregnancy. It might be associated with mild sedation, but this is not of concern either, but patients need to be aware of this side effect. The active ingredient in Navadixine is meclizine and is also considered to be safe during pregnancy. The Pharmacist is not taking responsibility for the pregnancy - I would address medication concerns with her OB Provider.
