Suggest Treatment For Water Retention Post Breast Reduction And Lift Procedure

I recently had a breast reduction and lift to the right side, but I have been retaining fluids for the past 3 weeks and still on going. I been back to my cosmetic surgeon many times for needle aspiration drainage, and she assure me that eventually the fluid build up will stop. Now I m having some chest pressure, some coughing and discomfort. If I take water pills will that help me.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The water retention management depends upon the amount, type, location and other relevant physical manifestations.

Looking to your case, it seems to be surgical site related as there are chest pressures, water pills usually do not help.

In my clinic, I recommend an x-ray of the chest and ultrasound of the operated part for detailed evaluation and precise management ahead.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Purva Patel, General & Family Physician
