I am 70 yrs. old. I m overweight and have always struggled with weight loss. I am close to having type 2 diabetes. I take blood pressure Medes. Which keeps my BP in normal range. Is there any type of weight loss surgery I would qualify for . I m 5 1 1/2 tall & weigh 190. I would like to be a normal weight just once in my life.

There are many causes of weight gain such as increased food consumption without increasing physical activity, high junk food, Cushing’s syndrome, and hypothyroidism. There are many more uncommon causes. You are a diabetic as well as hypertensive. So weight loss is must for you. Proper weight is needed for adequate control of diabetes and high blood pressure. It is not easy for a 70 year old person but it is possible only with your commitment with yourself. Adopt natural ways to lose weight.
Advice
1.     Increase physical activity – start physical activity in gym at least for half an hour for 4 – 5 days in a week regularly. Start with a balanced mix of cardio, weight training and flexibility exercises
2.     Avoid eating high energy foods such as cakes, chocolates, chips
3.     Avoid alcohol and smoking
4.     Increase consumption of high fiber diet such as wheat bread, dry date, whole grain, and vegetables
5.     Drink 3 – 4 liters of water daily
6.     Divide your meals into smaller portions and eat them frequently during the day. Do not eat heavily at a time
7.     Avoid oily & spicy food
8.     Regularly take medicines for diabetes and high BP
9.     Add atorvastatin 10 mg daily per oral at bed time for life-long. It will help you in improving you lipid profile
10.     Take less salt as it essential for controlling your BP
11.     Investigation – lipid profile
thanks
