Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was recently diagnosed with cellulitis. I have been on antibiotics for a month and continue to get outbreaks - welts and blisters, the latest on my ankles and feet. They are very itchy and uncomfortable. What else can I do to make this infection go away?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Are the blisters or welts that you are developing associated with infection? Are the blisters filled with pus or associated with infections & inflammation? If the blisters and welts appearing at the site of cellulitis and if they are pus filled, then they are infectious and associated with cellulitis. Management of such lesions requires antibiotic treatment. A pus culture or culture of discharge from these lesions is required. It is quite possible that the bacteria have acquired resistance against the antibiotic after long term use. I suggest you to consult your treating doctor for clinical assessment of the lesions, culture if discharge is present and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
