Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I tend to get welts and hives on my face. It only comes at night and I know when I have it because my face starts to feel hot and stiff. It started a month ago and I have been treating it with Benadryl. It still continues to happen, and I have never been allergic to anything. What should I do?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of welts and hives on face which occurs when body give response to some external stimuli or some kind of allergen. Introduction of allergen to skin cause release of some chemical which makes rashes and can lead to urticaria. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to to find out the trigger factor which is a complicated thing , But the prevention of hives is the best thing one can do. Give cold compresses to reduce itchiness. You should consult dermatologist for proper diagnosis. Doctor may prescribe steroid therapy with prednisone. Till then take antihistamine drug and take anti-allergic medications such as Zyrtec(Cetirizine) and Benadryl.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
