I usually treat my patients of vitiligo with either a moderately potent topical steroid e.g fluticasone or mometasone, twice daily OR with a topical immunomodulator like tacrolimus ointment, twice daily OR both.
Since you have already applied mometasone for a fair period of 4 months(which was justified), without any response.
Therefore as a treating doctor in this situation, I would have advised you to apply tacrolimus twice daily along with mometasone once daily at night.
In case of slowly spreading vitiligo it is also common practice to advice an oral immunomodulator e.g Levamisole.
Response might take 1-2 months to show up.
regards
