Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
The withdrawal effect of effexor is best dealt by lowering the dose slowly. It is advisable to decrease 25 % every week so there are either minimal or no withdrawal symptoms experienced.
There is no method other than the clinical experience to differentiate between withdrawal effects of effexor and side effects of Citalopram. Your doctor is the best person to differentiate and advice you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
