Suggest Treatment For Withdrawal Symptoms Of Xeloda

My Doctor has decreased my dosage of xeloda twice. At this point I take 1000 mg twice a day and do a 1 week on and 1 week off routine. I have rectal cancer, had radiation and xeloda and 2 surgeries and the scope shows no cancer at this point. I have 5 more weeks of xeloda to do but my toenails have become white and the ends of my toes are very hard and sensitive. My hands are also sensitive and red and itchy. I do lotion and anti fungal oil on my toenails. Doc has also put me on neronton. Will my toes, hands and nails return to normal after I finish xeloda? I do quilts and can t feel the thread at this point.

Hello,

You may be developed the Capecitabine induced hand-foot syndrome. Other possibilities like a fungal infection of nails with immunosuppression.

Other possibilities like drug-induced toxicity of nail bed which may prevent the proliferation of subungual tissue lead to nail deformities.

These side effects may recover after stopping of this drug. Please consult your treating doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
