Suggest Treatment For Worm Infestation With Enlarged Liver
Hi Doctor, My wife was complaining about pain in her abdomen and her back, we consulted a physician and advised her to go for a sonography and get the x-ray done. The X-ray report was fine however the the sonography report states that her liver is enlarged by 15.6 cms. There is worm infestation and also Gas problem. Please advise how can i g about in getting her treated. what precaution can be take and whether this will cause any serious problems in the future

Worm infestation , enlargement of liver, gas problem , these symptoms ,nothing yield any thing .
As there are so many reasons of enlargement of liver as worm impacted in liver , cirrhosis of liver , secondaries in liver , liver tumor , hydatid cyst , abscess .
I recommend you get in M R I of liver and also liver biopsy for confirmation for liver disease . Hyper acidity may be the main cause of gas problem as this may be due to tension , anxiety . Take some antacid but if gas formation is severe , she may need drugs like proton pump inhibitors like pantoloc-D once or twice in day .
In worm infestation I usually prescribe albendazole+ ivermectine in combination pack . One tablet / week for 4 weeks ( total 4 tablets in four weeks.).
In my opinion consult a gsatro-enterologist and get his opinion.
