Suggest Treatment For Worms In Stools

My 10 year old son says he has worms. He says he has had them for a long time, but was to embarrassed to tell me. I have seen no evidence but he said he has seen him in his stool. I asked I they were white and he said yes. He has had trouble sleeping lately. I have four children in the house. I am wondering if he has pinworms. Or could it be something else. He says he has no itching and no one else has any symptoms.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

The only way would be to examine the stools. Children may have a different idea of what exactly is happening. Collect his stool sample as well and send it to the laboratory for a stool analysis.

Let me also inform you that, many a times the stool sample provided is ruled off as having no parasites when they may in fact have parasites. So if you have seen them yourself visually or by picking on his stool, then make sure you repeat sending the sample to the doctors office until the diagnosis has been confirmed. But before that, make sure you see them yourself.

Best wishes.
