Suggest Treatment For Yellow, Smelly Discharge After Hysterectomy

I am 17 days post op from a vaginal hysterectomy. I am having some discharge that has an odour. It was just clear but has become redish-yellow over the past few days and today I was actually bleeding some-although that has stopped. Should I see a doctor or wait it out a bit?

Hello ma'am and welcome.

A discharge with an odour is usually suggestive of an infection which has to be ruled out, but as 17 days has passed since the surgery your course of prophylactic antibiotics would have also been complete. Please do visit the doctor, waiting any longer does not seem wise at this point.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
