Suggest Treatment Required For The Following CT Scan Result

Impression of CT Scan: Well defined rounded mildly enhancing soft tissue lesion in anterior segment of left upper lobe showing internal fat density and calcific foci - hamartoma. Alveolar opacities and ground glass haziness in lingular segment and bilateral lower lobes (left more than right) - infective aetiology. I met a Pulmonologist with chest x-ray. He asked me to do CT scan. After showing him the above report, he has suggested to take tablets for 15 days and see him again.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

There is a lesion in the upper part of the lung. However, it is most likely a benign (non-cancerous) one and probably be an old and healed lesion as in case of an old infection.

It is unlikely an active disease and only follows up is required. We have to repeat the X-ray or CT to check whether the size is increased or not. Nothing much to worry and your treatment is in the right track.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
