Suggest Treatment To Control Blood Pressure

I am 72 years old and had a heart attach at 58 years of age and then a stroke at 71 years of age. At he time of the stroke I was not taking any medicine. In the hospital I was given many pills. But when I left I only kept taking Plavix and Toprol. The medications have become so expensive I can not afford them. So I am looking for foods that thin the blood and lower the blood pressure. Dear sir I can understand your concern . I would like to suggest you that their are some life style modifications to manage blood pressure and these measures are equally important . These include weight reduction that is maintain BMI less than 25. Salt restricted diet. Moderation of alcohol consumption for male who drink less than 2 drinks per day . physical activity that include regular aerobic activity eg brisk walk for 30 minutes /day.now coming to your diet.you have to adapt DASH type diet.that is diet rich in fruits vegetables and low fat dairy products with reduced content of saturated and total fat. Try to follow all this if possible and if still your blood pressure is above normal don't hesitate to take medicine .you have mentioned that you already had one heart attack and one episode of CVA you have to take care of yourself . Their are few medicines that are to be given they will prevent future heart attacks and CVA episode.so discuss your pill burden and financial issues with your doctor he will definitely help you in that.but don't leave all these medicine yourself . Hope this will help.
