Suggest Treatment To Normalize Blood Pressure

Twice in past month, nurse was unable to get a pressure in left arm. Tried twice both times with automatic cuff. Right arm read fine - pressure 104/68 once and close to that at next visit. Today, nurse at different doctor could not get pressure with manual cuff. Tried second time and got faint reading of 132/82 (highest my pressure has been in my life). I usually stay close to 100 over close to 70.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

130/80 is quite normal and as of now no treatment is required. You have to reduce the salt intake. Serial BP charting is required and if the blood pressure is persistently high, drugs like amlodipine may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
