General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Atorvastatin is in a group of drugs called HMG CoA reductase inhibitors, or "statins." Atorvastatin reduces levels of "bad" cholesterol (low-density lipoprotein, or LDL) and triglycerides in the blood while increasing levels of "good" cholesterol (high-density lipoprotein, or HDL.)

Kindly take the medication as prescribed. Along with it continue with exercise and diet, what you have been following. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an antioxidant. Taking it does not have any effect in decreasing cholesterol levels per say. Its intake might help ease muscle weakness sometimes associated with intake of statins.

Kindly follow-up with fasting lipid profile investigation after 3 months to know about the improvements.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
