Suggest Treatment To Reduce The Swelling In The Cellulitis Affected Leg

My sister was diagnosed with cellulitis on the right leg. Her leg was so big, it s swollen and the left leg is also swollen but it is not as big as the right leg. She was admitted at the hospital in long beach due to fever and swollen legs. She was given antibiotic and was discharged after three days. The rashes disappeared but the swelling is still there and it seems that it s getting bigger and bigger. Is there anything that the doctor can do to prevent it? This is the fifth times already that it happens. What can you advise her to do Doctor? Thank you so much.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Consult a general surgeon and evaluated. An ultrasound scan is required for. further assessment and to rule out possibilities like DVT. As of now, you can apply GM dressing to reduce the edema.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
