I am an active 52 year old lady with a severe knee problem for which i am doing a regular workout and yoga.My height is 5.2" and weight is 68kgs.My cholesterol is 268,tryglicerides is 156,HDL is 56,VLDL is 31,LDL is 181.It is a hereditary factor.Earlier,i had taken Storvas for 3 months which helped me but again it has gone up.Kindly prescribe something which will keep my cholesterol level normal. General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Your triglycerides and LDL is increased. For some the reason of high cholesterol is due to lack of an enzyme. In such cases if you exercise and diet also there wont be much change in cholesterol level. So statin therapy is inevitable in such cases.Storvas (atorvastatin) can be taken as small dose as life long therapy. As your both LDL and Triglycerides increased, in such case in my patients i recommend fenofibrate also in combination with statins.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query
