Suggest Treatment To Remove Painful Cystic Acne On Chin

I have had adult acne with occasional breakouts of very bad cystic acne on my chin. I m pre menopausal with fluctuations in my periods. This cystic acne is very painful to the touch. I am now developing the occasional cyst like this at the base of my hairline in my neck that comes now and again. It is about the size of a pencil eraser and doesn t really come to a head but remains large and painful until it goes down again. what is this and should I see a dermatologist to have it removed?

Hi,

As you suggested,you have adult acne and cystic acne. Pain may be due to secondary infection. You consult the dermatologist to have perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

I would suggest...

- long course of antibiotic like minocycline 100 mg daily
- isotretnoin 10 mg daily
- antiinflammatory and analgesic drug till Pailin is reduced
- apply clindamycine gel on the face at night
- cleanse the face with antiseptic face wash
- intracystic steroid injection if needed
